Diving beetles live in ponds, lakes and slow-running streams. They eat tadpoles and fish. Fish, frogs and water spiders like to eat diving beetles. Diving beetles range in size from 1/16 of an inch to almost 2 inches long. Many of them are black or brown; some have markings. The adult beetles come to the surface of the water tail end up in order to get their air supply.
