Winter Olympics
The Winter Olympic Games are just like the Summer Olympic Games becasue they are held every four years. The first Winter Olympics was held in Chamonix, France, in 1924. The difference between the Summer and Winter Games is the events. All the Winter Olympic events are sports that contain ice or snow. Paralympic Games |
The Paralympic Games are a multi-sport event just like the Summer and Winter Olympics. These games are for athletes with a physical disability. These disabilities include athletes with mobility disabilities, amputations, blindness, and Cerebral Palsy. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which are held in the same host city as the Summer and Winter Games. You can see some pictures of athletes from the Paralympics below. |

Special Olympics |
The Special Olympics is a competition held every two years, swapping between Summer and Winter Games, for people who have intellectual disabilities. There are also local, national and regional competitions in over 150 countries worldwide. The Special Olympics gives people with mental disabilities a chance to compete against other atletes around the world. The first Special Olympics was in 1968 and gets bigger every year.
