At the beach, there are special flags which tell us if we can swim or not. It is very important to chack which flag is up at the beach. The flags are:
Red Flag: No Swimming Allowed |
Red and Yellow Flag: Safe to swim between two of these flags |
Black and White Flag: No Swimming between two of these flags. Only surfers and windsurfers allowed in this area. |
When you go to the beach always remember the following rules:
1 | Don't swim alone | 8 | Swim parallel and close to the shore |
2 | Don't swim just after eating | 9 | Do what the lifeguard tells you |
3 | Don't swim when you're hot or tired | 10 | Never use inflatable toys |
4 | Don't swim in strange places | 11 | Pay attention to signs on the beach |
5 | Don't swim out after anything drifting | 12 | Don't be a bully |
6 | Don't stay in the water too long | 13 | Learn to use equipment before trying it out |
7 | Don't swim out to sea | 14 | Learn basic life support |
Other things to remember at the Beach:
When you visit the swimming pool you must follow the rules of your local pool. The following points should also be remembered:
1 | No running in the pool area and be aware of slippery surfaces | 4 | No boisterous behaviour in the water and no pushing |
2 | Wear appropriate footwear on the pool deck | 5 | When diving, ensure there are no swimmers in your pathway |
3 | Remain in your section of the pool and do not swim out of your depth | 6 | Wear a swimming cap |
Entry into the water can be done from a sitting position or using the steps. Using the steps, approach the pool backwards step by step down into the water. From a sitting position on the edge, place one hand on the edge and slip into the water.
When exiting the pool the children must climb up the ladder one step at a time and one person at a time.
